Mardi Gras King Cake

$43.00

King Cake

King Cake is a tradition for the Epiphany, decorated in the colors of Mardi Gras and eaten leading up to Fat Tuesday (which falls on March 1st this year). The braided, soft cake is spiced with cinnamon and topped with cream cheese for a nice tang. After baking, it's then liberally coated in a lemon and vanilla icing with green, yellow, and purple sprinkles. A wonderful indulgence for these cold days, both a nice dessert or a great snack with a hot cup of coffee.

The "king" in King Cake comes from the tradition of hiding a "fève" in the cake, either a dried bean or a plastic baby to represent Jesus. The person who finds the fève is in charge of purchasing King Cake to share the next year, so make this the start of a new tradition for your family! There is a plastic baby hidden inside the cake.Note - please take care when eating the cake to prevent choking.

There is a tradition during Mardi Gras - something about beads and …… Each King Cake comes with a set of Mardi Gras beads. Wear them to celebrate!

This large cake is about 11x15" and feeds approximately 12-15. (Or…if you’re like me and enjoy large slices, it feeds fewer!)

PICKUP AND DELIVERY: Goods will be available to pickup from Xitrous from 10-12 Saturday morning, MARCH 1, 2025 so that they are fresh.

This is a small flat fee for delivery within ONLY the local Leesburg area and surrounding areas (Hamilton, Purcellville, Ashburn, Sterling). Deliveries will be made Saturday afternoon (unless otherwise specified). If you’re interested, please add “Local Delivery” to your cart as well!
