Southwest Adventure Complete
Just got home from my Southwest adventure.
Went to the Santa Fe Cooking School and learned to make Salsas, Salmon, Orange, Chile Lime Salsa Marinade, Poblano Lime Jam, Chipotle Black Beans, Tamales, and Vanilla Flan. Everything was amazingly fresh and delicious. My nephew and I immediately went home and made the marinade and used it for chicken!!! SO DELICIOUS.
We traveled to Madrid, NM for a fun day. I love the movie, "Wild Hogs". Matt and I walked the small town, ate a fantastic lunch, did some sight-seeing, purchased a memorable ring for this trip and met some fantastic new friends. Tried on a cowboy hat!! My new look!!
The experience we had at, Meow Wolf's House of Eternal Return was indescribable. It was my first time in this immersive exploration. So weird, fun, colorful, thought provoking. I would highly recommend this adventure.
Phoenix was amazing. Those of you who have known me for more than 10 minutes know that I am averse to heat. Well, I’ve discovered that I HATE humidity and heat!! Phoenix was hot and dry. Drinking my coffee outside by my niece’s pool was a glorious experience. The warmth was embracing, NOT BRACING!!!
Got to go to HIGH TEA at the Crowning Glory Tea Room in Scottsdale.
Dressed up, wore a Fascinator, had a lovely and peaceful repast with my niece. Can’t believe I actually wore peacock feathers on my head.
Played with my fur grand niece, Hazel. Such a sweet love muffin. Her soul is so happy. You can’t help but feel happy around her.
Had lunch with Emily’s neighbors who are delightful. Met new friends with her work family.
All in all a soul restorative vacation. Learned some new recipes, met new friends, lounged in a pool, binge watched Bridgerton’s, and spent time with my family. Could not have asked for more.
Birthday’s coming soon. Sixty-three is a bit weird. Why do I still feel like I’m in my twenties? My body likes to remind me that I am not.
Hopefully, the weather will soon feel more like May and less like February. My flower gardens are full of purple blooms, Allium, Iris, and Bachelor Buttons. The purple pops of color would make Monty Don proud.
So, back home and ready to bake. Sourdough bread this week, NutellaⓇ Knots next week, and finishing the month with Sourdough Focaccia. My fresh herbs are growing so well, they’ll be ready to top my favorite focaccia.
Happy May!! Have you been to the Southwest? Would love your comments on travel and recipes.
Looking forward to seeing everyone for Saturday pickup.
